PPIases accelerate the folding of proteins. It catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. May be involved in pre-mRNA splicing.

This gene is a member of the cyclophilin family ofpeptidylprolyl isomerases (PPIases). The cyclophilins are a highlyconserved, ubiquitous family, members of which play an importantrole in protein folding, immunosuppression by cyclosporin A, andinfection of HIV-1 virions. Based on similarity to other PPIases,this protein could accelerate the folding of proteins and mightcatalyze the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptidebonds in oligopeptides.
