This gene encodes a small GTP-binding protein that belongsto the largest family within the Ras superfamily. These proteinsfunction as regulators of membrane trafficking. They cycle betweeninactive GDP-bound and activated GTP-bound states, which iscontrolled by GTP hydrolysis-activating proteins (GAPs). Thisfamily member can be activated by the GAP protein RN-Tre, and it islocalized to the Golgi complex.
