This gene encodes a protein that acts as a repressor ofbeta-interferon gene expression. The protein binds specifically tothe PRDI (positive regulatory domain I element) of the beta-IFNgene promoter. Transcription of this gene increases upon virusinduction. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants thatencode different isoforms have been reported.
