功能	Catalyzes the first step in ubiquitin conjugation to mark cellular proteins for degradation through the ubiquitin- proteasome system. Activates ubiquitin by first adenylating its C- terminal glycine residue with ATP, and thereafter linking this residue to the side chain of a cysteine residue in E1, yielding a ubiquitin-E1 thioester and free AMP. Essential for the formation of radiation-induced foci, timely DNA repair and for response to replication stress. Promotes the recruitment of TP53BP1 and BRCA1 at DNA damage sites.
总结	UBE1 catalyzes the first step in ubiquitin conjugation to mark cellular proteins for degradation. This gene complements an X-linked mouse temperature-sensitive defect in DNA synthesis, and thus may function in DNA repair. It is part of a gene cluster on chromosome Xp11.23. Alternative splicing results in 2 transcript variants encoding the same protein, but with different 5' UTR.

图像	Western blot analysis of E1 Ubiquitin (UBE1) Antibody (C-term) (Cat. APR04790G) in mouse stomach tissue lysates (35ug/lane). UBE1 (arrow) was detected using the purified Pab. The anti-UBE1 Pab (Cat. APR04790G) is used in Western blot to detect UBE1 in HL-60 cell lysate. Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human cancer tissue reacted with the primary antibody, which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by AEC staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. BC = breast carcinoma; HC = hepatocarcinoma.
